In Moscow Petter Hegre was captivated by the décor in the old Soviet hotels with their Oriental rugs, outdated wallpaper, and big mirrors.
THE YOUNG Russian girls who turned up for the photo call are the children of the new, post-communist world and appear almost alien, rare naked blooms in this grey musty landscape of Russia. He had already taken some 10,000 photographs on tour when Malena telephoned his hotel, not once, but several times.
Hegre never ever makes a booking without meeting the model, or at the very least seeing a photograph or two, but this time he made a rare exception and waited anxiously for Malena to appear at his suite - anxious because his plane was due to take off a few hours later. It turned out to have been a fortunate intuition.
The shoot went better then one could hope and Petter managed catch his plane back to Portugal with only two minutes to spare.
